you and me goin fishin in the dark!

Alright, who needs a cheap vacation?! If you can withstand a little bit of heat and bugs for one weekend, then get on out there and go camping! ! I mean, you just can't get better than $17 dollars a night! Granted, you are sleeping in a tent, but it's so much fun! It's become one of our favorite things to do! We camp on the Little Red River in Heber Springs, Arkansas and do some trout fishing while we're down there... which is a blast. We usually wake up at about 5 in the morning (we're hardcore) and get a few hours of good fishing in before all the other campers get out to the river.  We fish, play in the creek, boat shop ( we can't afford one, but we love to dream!), or play in the Greers Ferry Lake all day, and then at night we sit around the campfire and eat dinner! It really doesn't get any better than hotdogs roasted on the campfire or grilled trout. yum yum! Here are a few pictures from our two camping trips:

on our way to the river! it's about a two and a half hour drive through the middle of arkansas.. but it's so fun!

I love this one. Ryan fishing on the river at about seven in the morning! Look how foggy it is! That water is bitter cold too.

One of the nearby creeks. How beautiful is that?! It's a few miles long. Ryan and I love to walk all the way down it! The water is ice cold, but our feet eventually go numb... which might not be a good thing.

We look so rough here. We literally don't take showers while we're camping, which is usually about three days. Ryan doesn't even change his clothes. Gross, i know.

"I am man, I create fire" - Ryan. He's so masculine.

Our happy little tent!

As newlyweds, this is pretty much the only vacation we can afford at the moment. But we do have a lot of fun!

  2. I discovered your blog a few weeks ago, and have enjoyed reading ever since! Camping is also one of our favorites...we're not "newlyweds" anymore (I'm so sad to say that!) but we still enjoy it. You can't beat cheap! And the memories are priceless. :)

  3. I didn't know we shared a love for the great outdoors! Camping is one of our favorite things to do! Travis won't change clothes either...well at least not for the first 3 days. We will go for like 5 days and then I MAKE him change! Your pictures were beautful. Makes me miss home! Sweet Heber Springs and the Greers Ferry Lake! Great memoires! Love you cousin!
