because my sweet husband had a really tough, exhausting week and weekend, I wanted to do something extra special for him this Valentines Day. Warning: it is super silly and valentine-ish. but, he appreciates my corniness. that's why we're perfect for each other.
so, we have a guilty pleasure. and it's called The Bachelor. I am aware that it is the dumbest reality show out there and in no way does it realistically depict love; however, we can't help but watch it. we hate to love it. Ryan and I always talk about how the dates that the bachelor takes these girls on could never happen in real life and how they are tricked into believing that they "love" this man. Because when the show is over, and the bachelor has proposed to his soon-to-be wife, real life kicks in. And helicopters, shopping sprees, fancy dresses, and photo shoots do not await her every date. The show does not work. It is in its 11th season I think, and only two couples have remained together.
ANYWAY, i decided to create my own fancy "bachelor" date. I made a huge palette on our living room floor out of comfy blankets and took some pillows and propped them up against the back of our couch, and i put candles EVERYWHERE. just like they do in the show. As soon as Ryan came in the door, he laughed. He knew exactly what I was doing. His exact words, "so i'm confused. Are we watching the bachelor tonight, or are we ON the bachelor tonight?" he understands me. i love him.
the candles:
my parent's anniversary falls on valentines day, so every year on this day my mom makes a big, huge delicious shrimp dinner. As kids, we all looked forward to this dinner every year. Have I mentioned my momma can cook? She's the best. So, I have continued this tradition at our house in honor of my parents. Happy 30th anniversary you two lovebirds! Thank you for being such an example to us kids.
PW's spicy shrimp, twice baked potatoes, corn, and biscuits!
desert! White chocolate covered strawberries!
We had such a fun, sweet time together this Valentine's Day! Ryan spoils me 365 days a year, so I wanted to do something special and fun this Valentines for him! He deserved it. fo sho.
