sweet treats and girl time!

So, today on my day off two of my girlfriends came over and we had a baking day! This was kind of a dangerous idea because after we baked the yummy treats.... we ate them. And they were so delicious. And so unhealthy. But mainly so delicious.

We decided to all bake different things so we could have lots of yummy deserts to feast on! Lauren made Pioneer Woman's Flat Apple pie, Kim made Pioneer Woman's Monkey Bread, and I made Joy the Baker's chocolate and peanut butter cupcakes. I know you're shocked that I didn't choose a Pioneer Woman recipe also, but I'd thought I'd mix it up a little bit. Watch out. I'm wild.

Here are a few pictures from our fun day in the kitchen!

we had to have a picture in our fun aprons: (my face is still swollen in this picture from that stupid face wash. ugh.)

decorating my chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter icing! yummy to my tummy!

sweet lauren and her sweet apple pie! :)

Kim's delicious creation: a bundt pan full of ambrosia. Here is the recipe.

the cupcakes. they'll make you drink a whole glass of milk. If you aren't familiar with Joy the Baker's website, you should be. She has TONS of yummy healthy recipes that will make your tummy so happy. This is not a healthy recipe but it tastes so good you won't even care. Here is the cupcake recipe.

the flat apple pie. (this recipe is only in PW's cookbook and not on her website.) Those apples were sooo tasty.

and this is what the kitchen looked like throughout the baking extravaganza: (yes that is my ipad in the middle of the mess. it doubles as the best cookbook ever. don't worry, i kept it clean.)

so there you have it! a day full of girl time and baking. I could use a day like today about once a week. :)

  1. How fun!!!! I love all your aprons! :)

And look at that icing... so professional looking!

I would have gained 5 lbs just in the kitchen dabbing my fingers in all the batters & sugar! :)

  2. Oh I love this...I had a weekend baking fest and it was just so awesomely relaxing...I do that when I'm stressed...everyone tends to like it. These cupcakes look extremely yum! And the pie...Dusty and I were having a "if you had to pick your last meal" discussion the other night and I chose apple pie for dessert...LOVE it!
