seriously? the last time I updated my blog was November 8th? If there was an award for the most undisciplined blogger, I might win it. Why do I have any followers? :)
Our Holiday season has been absolutely wonderful and full of blessings this year! The Lord has really broken and overwhelmed my heart since Thanksgiving by reminding me of how blessed I am and how easily I forget it. Thank you Father for your undeserved merit and grace.
So one of my favorite Christmas traditions is making a gingerbread house with my family each holiday season! Over the years, it has evolved into a rather heated competition where the winner wins the best gift ever...... bragging rights until the next annual gingerbread house competition. My brothers won last year and Ryan and I were determined to beat them this year!
The rules of the competition goes as follows:
1. Each team had to use the same gingerbread house kit. (they were from target this year!)
2. You can supplement your gingerbread house with 3 additional candies/foods.
3. You have an hour and a half to construct and complete your house.
4. The teams must incorporate one "mystery item" that is revealed the night of the competition. (this year it was NERDS rope)
I told you it was intense. My family can be a little hardcore and dramatic. And it is wonderful. Here are the results from this years competition:
This was my sister and brother-in-law's house. The used trident gum for the bricks, ice cream cones for the trees, and fruity pebbles as their extra ingredients. I loved how the turned the fruity pebbles into christmas lights! so creative!

This was my brother's christmas castle. They used rice krispy treats for the columns, twizzlers, and cookies and cream bars for the brick. Very clever.

This was mine and Ryan's beach house! We used thin spaghetti for the roof, shredded wheat thins for the walls, and brown sugar for the sand.

and the winner was....... drumroll........
OUR BEACH HOUSE!!!

Our good friends, Adam and Allison Hudson, were the judges of the competition! We sent them pictures and then they replied with the winner! They did not know whose house was whose, so we were so excited when they chose ours! It was such a fun night and Ryan and I can't wait to win again next year! :)
